NUJP North America first online general assembly.

MANILA — The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) North America chapter was established July 1 during an online assembly.

Attended by 12 journalists from Canada and the United States, the newly-established chapter elected the following officers:

In his speech, Dela Cruz said that the chapter will work on reaching out to more Filipino journalists in Canada and the United States.

NUJP Chairperson Jonathan de Santos delivered the keynote address, highlighting the attacks on press freedom in the country while NUJP Secretary General Ronalyn Olea presented the NUJP Orientation and the Union’s Constitution and ByLaws.

NUJP Director Macel Ingles, meanwhile, facilitated the election of officers.

Former NUJP Secretary General Sonny Fernandez helped establish the chapter. — NUJP Secretariat
