[Statement] Poe to receive 200K signatures for ABS-CBN franchise renewal

The NUJP today is submitting copies of signed petitions supporting the renewal of ABS-CBN’S broadcast franchise to Senate Committee on Public Services chairperson Sen. Grace Poe. The committee is set to conduct a hearing on the network’s franchise today.

The petitions are the same ones submitted to the House of Representatives last Wednesday. These number close to two hundred thousand signatures.

The NUJP will likewise join the hundreds of network employees and supporters slated to hold a rally at the Senate gate.

The NUJP hopes that the Senate hearing would compel the House of Representatives to conduct its own hearings before Congress takes its Lenten break.
