A guide for Filipino Journalists
Recognizing the dangers Filipino journalists face online, the NUJP developed as early as 2018 a training module on digital security that aims to equip journalists with knowledge and tools to boost their safety in cyberspace. With inputs from local and international digital security experts and information from reliable references, the module includes
digital security concepts as well as practical tips on using smartphones, computers, and other applications.
This guide will discuss the basic concepts, processes and principles of digital security, suggest applications that are secured and practical to use, and provide practical tips on how to keep ourselves safe online and offline.
While this is definitely not an ultimate guide for journalists on the said topic, this resource hopes to enlighten readers to practice digital security to keep themselves, their accounts and gadgets protected from unauthorized–and potentially harmful–access. As the old adage goes, it is always better to be safe than sorry.
